Description

♦ The large deciduous tree of Coromandel Ailanto Tree belonging to the botanical family of Ailanthus Excelsa is called “Indian Tree of Heaven”.

♦ The tree is about 18 m to 25 m high and has a stem of 60 cm to 80 cm in diameter.

♦ The bark of this pale gray tree is very soft, but the bark of mature trees is aromatic, bitter, and slightly coarse.

♦ The plant has 30 to 60 cm long leaves and 8 to 14 pairs of leaflets.

♦ The base of these oval-shaped leaflets is uneven and the surface is broad.

♦ The tree is 6 to 10 cm long, 3 to 5 cm wide, with long pointed, curly hairy glands.

♦ The edges of the leaves of the plant are slightly coarse and tooth-like.
